After the winter we’ve had, we’re sure we’re not the only ones daydreaming about a getaway for warmer weather and sunnier skies.
March 1st is Plan A Solo Vacation Day, and we can’t think of any better motivation than that to plan a much-deserved escape.
The most important step of planning a solo vacay? No surprise here, but for us, it’s picking out the right luggage. After that, we’ve rounded up a brief but important list of pointers to plan and get ready for your adventure.

Track airfare and get alerts for price changes
Finding a deal on airfare doesn’t require a lot of effort like it used to. Compare prices on platforms like Skyscanner or Kayak. Or, you can set up price change notifications by email when you save a preferred destination on Google.

Take inventory of your credit card points and benefits
You more than likely have unused points or travel benefits with your credit cards. Put those to your advantage by investigating partnerships your credit cards have with airlines and hotel groups.

Draft a daily itinerary of your trip
Sure, not the most groundbreaking advice, but it’s important to have a rough idea of what you’d like to experience on your solo trip. Even if an hour-by-hour schedule isn’t your thing, writing a list of everything you’d like to do, then separating them into daily buckets can help you not feel overwhelmed when you’re there.

Consider shared group experiences
If you’re not used to lots of alone time, booking shared group experiences beforehand could take some of the pressure off. Check out resources like Airbnb Experiences to find things like cooking classes, food crawls, walking tours, and more.

Brush up on foreign language skills
While you don’t have to be fluent, learning some pointers or brushing up on basic level skills is extremely helpful when solo traveling. Preply offers language tutors from all around the world. It’s also a good way to get tips from a local if your tutor lives in the city you’re planning to visit!
