Frequently Asked Questions

How is Solgaard Lite different from the Original Carry-On Closet?

The Solgaard Carry-On Closet Lite is a lighter, zippered version of Solgaard’s signature Carry-On Closet, while the Original Carry-On Closet has a more structured frame design.

Both versions include Solgaard’s built-in FlowCloset™ system, a durable hard-shell exterior, smooth-rolling wheels, a TSA-approved lock, and an integrated USB charging port. The main difference is that the Lite Collection is designed for travelers who want the organization of the Carry-On Closet in a lighter-weight suitcase.

The Lite Series uses the Wide FlowCloset™, while the Original Series uses the Tall FlowCloset™.

Does Lite include the FlowCloset system, and how do the shelves work for packing and unpacking?

Yes. Every Solgaard Carry-On Closet Lite includes the Wide FlowCloset™, a removable built-in shelving system designed to help you pack, compress, and unpack with less friction.

To use it, pack your clothing and small personal items into the FlowCloset™ shelves, compress the shelves into the suitcase, and zip the suitcase closed. When you arrive, lift the FlowCloset™ out and hang it up so your clothes stay organized without fully unpacking.

How durable is the Lite shell?

The Solgaard Carry-On Closet Lite is made with a durable polycarbonate hard shell designed to handle the movement, friction, and impact of travel.

Polycarbonate is lightweight, flexible, and impact-resistant, making it a strong choice for hard-shell carry-on luggage. The Lite shell is built for travelers who want durable protection without the extra weight of a more structured frame suitcase.

Is Solgaard Lite carry-on size approved for most airlines, including international flights?

The Solgaard Carry-On Closet Lite is designed for carry-on travel, with size options that fit many domestic and international airline requirements.

For broader international compatibility, the Carry-On Closet Lite Medium is the safer option. It measures 20.8 x 13.4 x 9 in externally, including wheels. The Carry-On Closet Lite Large offers more packing space and measures 22.4 x 14.6 x 9.6 in externally, including wheels.

Airline carry-on rules vary by airline, aircraft, route, and fare class. Always check your airline’s current carry-on size and weight requirements before traveling.

What is the capacity in liters, and how many days can I realistically pack in Lite?

The Solgaard Carry-On Closet Lite Medium has a 35-liter capacity without the FlowCloset™ and is best for shorter trips, lighter packers, and international carry-on travel.

The Solgaard Carry-On Closet Lite Large has a 43-liter capacity without the FlowCloset™ and is best for travelers who want more packing space for longer trips or domestic carry-on travel.

How many days you can pack depends on your destination, clothing type, packing style, and whether you use compression. As a general guide, the Lite Medium is a strong choice for weekend trips or shorter travel, while the Lite Large is better for longer trips, heavier clothing, or travelers who like extra room.
