Frequently Asked Questions

Solarbanks How they work, features, and compatibility

Q: How do I charge my devices with the powerbank?

A: Fully charge via a Micro USB cable by plugging into wall outlet with USB charging capacity. 2amp will charge in approximately six hours, 1amp will take over 10 hours. Press (1) Power button to check battery level. 5 LEDs = full battery. 1 = time to charge up! The upper large USB port will charge at 1a output, the lower USB port will charge at high speed 2.4a output.

Q: How long does it take to charge the powerbank?

A: Two hours of sunlight per day and a 50% top up to your phone means you’ll never need to plug your solarbank into a wall! One hour of sunlight = 25% charge for your smartphone

Q: How does the Solar power work?

A: The solar power generates power in sunlight best. However it can also generate power in daylight with non-direct sunlight. In ideal sunlight it will generate approximately 450mAh per hour. This means that 1 hour = 25% charge for your smartphone. Four hours will give the powerbank enough to give you a full charge on your phone. The solar panel function is meant to keep your powerbank topped up while you are on the go. The main charging function is by USB, and then the solar power keeps the level full depending how often you use it. With two hours of good light per day, and a 50% top up of your phone per day you won’t need to think about plugging it in very often at all.

Q: How many times will the powerbank charge my phone?

A: Five (5) full charges for your smartphone using zero solar power. Every four hours of sunlight means one extra charge for your phone.

Q: What is the capacity of the bag in litres?

A: The bag's capacity in litres is a little under 18 Litres. This is spread between the main workzone and lifezone, with the lifezone having 30% more space than the workzone.

Q: Can Lifepack fit a water bottle?

A: A water bottle can easily fit into the side pocket or be hooked onto the secure mounting point on the side of the bag.

Q: Is Lifepack and the Solarbank able to go through TSA?

A: We have traveled with this bag many times without any problems in the airport. TSA regulations allow for battery powered items to be carried with you in your carry on. All certifications will be passed to allow for safe travel and transport.

Q: How do I set the lock for the backpack?

A: The lock comes preset as 0-0-0, insert a pen or pin into the bottom part with the correct code and adjust the numbers to the code of your preference.(new version of Lifepack 2.0, Solgaard lock with hexagon shape)

Press and hold the lock when the correct code is entered, then reset while holding in the lock arm. When you release the lock with the new code that will become your new code. Automatically the lock is preset to 000.(old version of lock, Lifepack logo on lock)

Brilliant, the bag feels rear to carry and is perfect for everything I need. Enough room for all my books and texts, and the laptop sleeve is awesome and very protective. Exterior cleans easily, and is a perfectly balanced bag.

Best Bag Ever!

This bag is a total game changer! It’s light weight and spacious. You can carry all of your electronic devices safely and snuggly inside its soft interior. I love being able to be on the go all day and not have to worry about charging any of my devices because I have my solar panel. This is truly the best bag ever. My son is getting one as a graduation present. They make great gift ideas. I carry this bag EVERY DAY for work because it’s so stylish.

Too small for a 17'' gaming laptop, but stylish, sporty, resilient & versatile. Great for work and adventure.

WARNING - I am a crowdfunding investor in Solgaard. They gave me a watch upon becoming one (aren't they the sweetest?) I purchased this bag on my own dime and desire for one. But if I didn't care, I wouldn't be writing such a meticulous review. Go on, trust me! My old backpack was a large college-style Swissgear backpack (the one you see in Walmart and target. Yes, that one.) It was 15 years old, had seen seven countries and was absolutely filthy. I decided to purchase a Solgaard Lifepack to replace it (no Solarbank for now.) Mine is black, as I require a conservative look for work. I was fully aware that Solgaard's website warned that it could fit *most* 17'' laptops and decided to roll the dice, as this backpack was intended for work and adventuring, not necessarily a full blow vacation with the laptop in tow, though that would have been outstanding if it fit. I could still fit the backpack, I just couldn't use the velvet slot for it. Even in black, it is a beautiful backpack. The Solgaard motif (a hexagon) is visible on the straps and hooks on the side of the bag. The standard logo is on the bottom of the front of the backpack. The inside is lined with beautiful grey Shore-Tex fabric (this is the part that came from ocean plastic.) This bright grey makes it easy to see when you're digging around in the backpack. The transition from a plain college backpack to the Lifepack has been difficult but rewarding. The old backpacks usually have two pouches on the front with a spot for pens, glasses and stuff all clumped together. Lifepack doesn't do that. As you can see, the face of the Lifepack is a perfect "wall" with an interchangeable window depending on if you're going to buy a Solarback or block it out so there is not a "hole" in your backpack. Instead, you have lots of little slots in the inside liners of the backpack and its up to you with what you do with them. If you actually just want to reach into a big pencil pouch without really thinking about it, you're not going to like this backpack. Lifepack is tidy, and demands your tidyness. I had to think about where I'm going to be comfortable slotting my pens, markers and glasses, leaving the open space for papers and books. The Lifepack has two major large storage areas and lots of little storage areas. The back is for a laptop and/or papers and things, and the front is for papers and things. Both have Shore-Tex slots for the little things, and both have pen/pencil slots. The back has two square mesh slots that can be closed with zippers. The front has an obscure pouch at the bottom (great for something long like a tooth brush) and the back has a tiny zipper pouch at the bottom (this is where you find the TSA lock.) The sides of the backpack have short zipper pouches that are a little too small to hold an umbrella. One of them has the USB socket if you have a Solarbank. There are also hidden zipper pouches in the back of the backpack in four places. I don't see a use for the baby pouches in the slings at this time. The slings and back support are incredibly plush. I want to also add that even though I don't have a Solarbank, I loosened the velcro "lock" intended for the Solarbank, let it sink to the bottom of my back and connected it to a standard power bank that I owned. I then connected a device to the outer USB socket. It still charges! This means that even if you don't have a Solarbank, the USB slot is still useful for connecting a charger. I got this so that I stopped looking like a college student at work and replaced my filthy backpack, and the Lifepack mostly delivers. Good for: Adventure / Tourism Work Daytime music festivals that allow backpacks <3 Those who want a Solarbank Those who don't want a Solarbank but still want to charge stuff Not good for 17'' gaming laptops School (its not big enough for your everything) Lugging a LOT of stuff.
